كتابخانه ديجيتالي جهان، وب‌سايتي كه دسترسي رايگان به كتاب‌هاي كمياب، نقشه‌ها، دست نوشته‌ها، فيلم و عكس از سراسر جهان فراهم مي‌كند، روز سه‌شنبه در مقر يونسكو در پاريس راه‌اندازي مي‌شود.

به گزارش سرويس فن‌آوري اطلاعات خبرگزاري دانشجويان ايران (ايسنا)، اين كتابخانه ديجيتالي كه آثاري از چين باستان يا خوشنويسي فارسي را به رايگان گردهم مي‌آورد، سومين كتابخانه ديجيتالي بزرگ جهان پس از Google Book Search و پروژه جديد Europeana اتحاديه اروپا به شمار مي‌رود.

سايت كتابخانه ديجيتالي جهان توسط نهاد آموزشي، علمي و فرهنگي سازمان ملل، يونسكو و 32 موسسه همكار اين سازمان راه‌اندازي شده و ايده جيمز بلينگتون، كتابدار كتابخانه كنگره است.

اين كتابخانه به نشاني www.worlddigitallibrary.org به هفت زبان اصلي عربي، چيني، انگليسي، فرانسوي، پرتقالي، روسي و اسپانيايي موجود بوده و مطالب به زبان‌هاي ديگر نيز قابل دسترس خواهد بود.
